CEO of the Belize Electric Company Limited Resigns

Chief Executive Officer of the Belize Electric Company Limited (BECOL) is retiring following his appointment as the Ambassador to the United States as well as the Permanent Representative to the Organization of American States and the High Commission to Canada.

Chief Executive Officer of the Belize Electric Company Limited (BECOL) is retiring following his appointment as the Ambassador to the United States as well as the Permanent Representative to the Organization of American States and the High Commission to Canada.  A release from BECOL today congratulated Young on his appointment while endorsing his abilities and skills to represent Belize.  Young, who will be succeeding Dan Guttierrez, has had over thirty years experience in the electricity sector in Belize, including President and CEO of BECOL for the past ten years. He has served on several boards in Belize, Canada and the Caribbean including the Board of Trustees for the University of Belize. Mr. Young is currently serving as Canada’s Honorary Consul to Belize. He was awarded the Order of the British Empire in 2005 for his work in developing the electricity sector in Belize.  The announcement of his appointment came via the Government’s Press Office yesterday.
