Reports reaching our newsroom is that Estevan Perrera has resigned as the Chairman of the Elections and Boundaries Commission. Perrera was appointed under the Barrow administration and had given some problems in tendering his resignation after the November elections. He had cited his legal right to retain the seat despite the change in administration; but while he provided the media with a lengthy document on his rights to remain as Chairman, at no point did he say he would not have resigned. Legally, Perrera could have remained in the seat of Chairman up until 2024, unless found guilty of impropriety.
