Chalillo Dam to reduce power supply to the Belize Electricity Limited

The drawn out dry season is not only impacting residents across the country, but it is also affecting the river levels and the three dams.  With the high temperatures expected over the weekend along with the low levels at the Chalillo Dam, Belize Electricity Limited will face a dip in the power supply it gets from the Fortis.  Chief Executive Officer at Fortis, Kay Menzies spoke to Love News, confirming that the water levels at the dam are low and with that the power generation from Fortis will likely decrease.

Fortis Belize is the largest in-country energy supplier to the Belize Electricity Limited.  From the three dams in the country, Chalillo, Vaca and Mollejon, an estimated 52 megawatts of power are harvested for the country
