Charges Withdrawn Against Gilroy Usher Jr.: Family Dispute Incident Resolved in Court

Gilroy Usher Jr. saw three criminal charges withdrawn against him yesterday in court.  The charges stem from a family dispute with his father, the Minister of State in the Ministry of Public Utilities, Energy and Logistics, Gilroy Usher Sr.  Yesterday, he was read two charges, one for damage to property and the other for threat to damage to property. Usher’s charges follow the damage he reportedly caused to his father’s pawn shop at mile 2 on the George Price Highway. According to court reports, Usher ran a vehicle into the glass door and shutters at the shop. Further allegations say that Usher also brought harm to one Ancellia Stevens. In the arraignment, Usher Jr. who is aspiring to be an attorney-at-law, appeared unrepresented before Chief Magistrate, Jayani Wegodapola, and pleaded not guilty to all three charges. The third charge against him for 1 count of harm was withdrawn by the virtual complaint when Minister Usher requested no further court actions against him on December 6. In similar fashion yesterday, Minister Gilroy Usher Sr. requested that no further action be taken against his son.
