There were two city shootings yesterday; the first taking place just after five o’clock in the evening on West Street. There were no fatalities as Assistant Commissioner of Police explained to the media this morning.
The second shooting took place a few hours later at the junction of Euphrates Avenue and Cairo Street. This incident however, evolved into a high speed chase on the south side of Belize City with an unarmed ACP Chester Williams in pursuit of the shooters. Williams told us how that incident unfolded.
Preliminary investigations have led to somewhat of a breakthrough and these two shootings may be solved in record time if the ballistics report is in accordance with their theory. He also spoke of charges that may be laid against the four men.
As it relates to motives, ACP Williams explained the dynamics of the street wars taking place in the city.
To recap, there were no fatalities in yesterday’s shooting incidents. Aaron Garbutt was shot to the left foot while Mark Vernon was shot to the lower back
