After initially stating it would have been his last week as Police Commissioner, it turns out that Chester Williams will be spending another month in that position. This morning, the Ministry of Home Affairs announced a structured one-month transition process for the handing over of responsibilities of the Commissioner of Police. The ministry says the transition will facilitate a seamless handing over to Dr. Richard Rosado who will assume the role. Williams initially stated that he would have been moving over to his new CEO post on Monday. His decision followed a letter from the CEO of Home Affairs which essentially pushed for a quick transition. However, after a meeting with the Minister of Home Affairs and the Prime Minister the decision was made to commence a one-month transition period. Yesterday, Musa spoke about Williams’ departure and the handing over of the position to Dr. Richard Rosado.
As part of the transition period, an official handing-over ceremony will be held to mark the formal change of command.
