Child Stimulation Month Across the Nation

Some studies show that 85 percent of brain development occurs by age 5. This is reason why parents and guardians should do everything to stimulate the minds of kids in those precious early years. It can be a task as simply teaching them to read and write.  Across the country today, educators and parents of preschoolers took part in ceremonies and marches to celebrate the start of Child Stimulation Month. Love News reports on activities in Belize City, Belmopan and Punta Gorda.

Jose Sanchez: “It is the start of child stimulation month. In Belize City preschoolers march from the Memorial Park through the principal streets celebrating their future and careers. Though the city parade ended at the Constitutional Park organizers hope that the theme Hug me, Listen to me, Help me Grow will be a daily part of parent and guardians relationships with their kids. In the capital Belmopan 17 preschools took part in the planned activities.”

Representative: “We had a ceremony to kick off Child Stimulation Month  2019 for the Belmopan area and it consisted of at least 17 to 18 preschools out here fully represented this morning. This morning’s ceremony was a little bit short but it started off at the Sir George Brown Field instead of the Independence Hill so we took a different turn this year and we had a little bit more presence this year from parents, fathers, grandparents and all came out this morning to support their early learners in kicking off child stimulation month. We paraded , we also raised awareness of our learning and if you notice the theme it was a comprehensive theme that three line ministries embraced and so this year’s theme was also different and special.”

Marlanie Nice: “Hi well my . I am a teacher and I think that early childhood is very important to stimulate your children.”

Jose Sanchez: “Toledo activities took place at the Punta Gorda Central Park and ended with a parade. Dr. Carmen Lopez Avila from the Ministry of Education explained how child stimulation month is being celebrated in PG.”

Dr. Carmen Lopez Ministry of Education: “Today we are officially opening the child stimulation month in Punta Gorda Town and we have all the preschools participating under the theme Hug me, Listen to me, Help me grow. All of us adults play an important role in terms of allowing these students to grow positively into the future. There will be a future for tomorrow so we join hands in helping them to grow.”

Jose Sanchez: “ Across the country similar activities took place reinforcing the importance of quality time in relation to the socialization of the little people who will be nurtured as we nurture Belize. Jose Sanchez for Love News.”

We’d like to thank our Toledo and Belmopan correspondents for assisting with that report.
