Today is being celebrated across the nation as National Children’s Day. This year Universal Children’s Day is extra special as it marks the 38th anniversary of it signing on to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of a Child. Miriam Codd, the substation manager for the Ministry of Education Belmopan branch spoke about the activities here in Belmopan.
Miriam Codd, Substation Manager, Ministry of Education Belmopan Branch: “Our celebration here in Belmopan was a huge success. The theme for this year’s Children’s Day is “Protect and Secure the well being of our children.” Our activities included reading competition at the district level, Belmopan became the seat of the Children’s parliamentary session, there were many motivational sessions with speakers from across the country in all levels in so many schools. Sports day was one of the highlights, career day was another highlight and cultural awareness day where the children were able to display their different cultures. Special thanks to our teachers, parents, principals and stakeholders in our community for all you do to secure a better quality of life for all of our children. I’d like to wish all a happy Children’s ‘day and remember the theme “Protect and secure the well being of our children.”
