Christian Workers’ Union Welcomes New Executive Members

In related union news, there are two new executive members of the Christian Workers’ Union (CWU).  Former Chief Union Representative for the Social Security Board Union, Ella Waight, has officially handed over to Phillipa McDonald. Waight had served in the capacity of Chief Union Rep for six consecutive years after being elected for two terms.  Jacqueline Medrano Cruz has also been elected to the SSB Union as the Deputy Chief Union Representative.  Currently, the Social Security Board has two hundred and fifteen of its staff members who are unionized.  In recent months, Waight has been a key player at the SSB in tackling the issue of the non-transfer of an inspector with a resolution that the transfer would be done in August this year.  This was an issue for the SSB Union as it was in contravention of the policies, and was affecting other inspectors in their transfers.  This matter had drawn out for months and had led to staged sickouts and go-slows at the SSB offices countrywide.  The SSB Union is a unit that falls under the CWU.
