The churches’ fight for a referendum on the legalization of cannabis in Belize may just end up being futile. That’s because the Briceno Administration may not allow for a national referendum to be held. Minister of Home Affairs, Kareem Musa had previously stated that the bill had already received approval from parliament and only needs the approval of the Governor-General to become law. Minister of Education Francis Fonseca weighed in on the discussion yesterday and says if the churches want they can challenge the matter in court.
