Churches Push for Stronger Role in Tackling Belize’s Social Issues

Belize has a long and storied history of church and state coming together to improve the lives and circumstances of people…primarily through education. But if the Belize Council of Churches has their way, the relationship between the church and state would be strengthened and utilized to help to address a slew of social issues the government cannot tackle on its own. In a meeting with Prime Minister John Briceno on Saturday last, President of the Council, Bishop Philip Wright spoke of ways the church and state can forge a viable partnership.

The meeting took place at the Prime Minister’s office in Belmopan.
