As Belize gets ready for the September celebrations, the Belize City Council is ensuring that the streets are upgraded. Deputy Mayor Allan Pollard spoke on the council’s efforts.
Allan Pollard, Deputy Mayor, Belize City Council: “As you know we have 10th and the 21st which are big days for our culture and we are having our 10th Day Celebration bram and of course the 21st ceremony along with the road march so I’m happy to say that all the schools are attending so it will be a good showing to see all the kids back on the road in their uniforms parading. After that we will have the September 21st bram as well. In addition to that we are trying our best to still while focussing on September and the Celebrations making sure that we kind of get some maintenance going. A lot of these roads where there will be carnival, there will be some of these parades, we had to ensure that the manhole covers on sidewalks, those are repaired, and other maintenance stuff as well. Our Works Department is fully committed and they’re all deployed right now making sure that we have a smooth September and a safe one of course.”
