On October 4, Candice Miller, the former City Administrator for the Belize City Council was victorious in court as she was awarded in excess of four hundred thousand dollars. Justice Courtenay Abel ruled that contrary to what the Belize City Council was saying, Miller was not in dereliction of her duties. Today, the media asked Mayor Bernard Wagner whether the Belize City Council will be appealing the judgement.
Bernard Wagner, Mayor of Belize City: “Well again, our attorneys are ensuring and crossing the ‘I’s and crossing the ‘T’s to ensure that if we do go that route that we do have a winnable case and so we have I believe 21 days to file that appeal we will take our time in ensuring that we make the right decision. Right now we’re focusing on weather our case, if we do appeal, we have footing.”
The Council has twenty-one days to appeal the case.
