Last week, we brought you the concerns of Karen Golanche, a resident of “Golache Crescent” which is located next to the Belize Family Life Association. According to Golanche, part of the street that she uses to exit from her home was blocked off, reportedly by Heritage Bank. She had initially believed that the Belize City Council had sold the street to the bank, however, Mayor Wagner Bernard denied that claim. He then clarified that there is a proposal for infrastructure upgrades in the area by Heritage Bank, but nothing is set in stone. He then committed to hearing Golanche’s concerns before moving forward. His team met with Golanche yesterday, and she told us of the outcome of that meeting. According to her, she and other neighbors in the area are not compromising on their position that the road should not be blocked off.
We will keep following this story.
