A troubling incident of alleged bullying is drawing concern on the island after a video surfaced showing a violent confrontation inside a classroom at La Isla Bonita Elementary School in San Pedro Town. The footage, which has been circulating on social media and was highlighted by La Voz Belize, reportedly shows a male student being physically attacked by another child while inside the classroom. In the video, the victim appears unable to defend himself as blows are delivered, while several students look on. Some children can reportedly be heard urging the aggressor to stop, signaling attempts to de-escalate the situation. The recording also suggests that the victim’s cellphone was damaged during the altercation, further intensifying concerns about the severity of the encounter. According to La Voz, the video was released with authorization from the child’s parents, who say they are not only worried about their son but about the safety of other students as well. The parents indicated that a police report has either been filed or is in the process of being submitted. The platform also noted that the victim is a child with autism. Up to news time, there has been no official statement from the school or education authorities regarding the incident, but the matter is expected to draw significant public attention as calls grow for disciplinary action and a thorough investigation.
