The latest COVID-19 statistics out of the Ministry of Health has shown eighteen new cases of COVID-19, the recovery number was doubled with fifty six persons dubbed as recovered, and no new deaths to report. During the Commissioner of police, Chester Williams two day trip to Dangriga Town, Stann Creek District to focus on crime fighting he had to take moment to address the non-compliance of Dangriga residents to the COVID-19 regulations.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “I’m pretty disappointed entering Dangriga I saw that nobody in Dangriga is wearing a mask. I had to inform the OC just now that I’m extremely disappointed because we have to ensure that we continue to enforce the regulation. I hear people complaining everyday about the curfew and wanting the curfew to be lifted but if it is that we continue to behave reckless and do not follow the regulations we will have curfew much longer than we want to be. And so the first time that we must practice is to ensure that we follow the regulation, wear our mask, sanitize, social distance, do not have parties, do not attend parties and if we can do these things then I’m sure that we can live in a Belize without a curfew. But if it is that we continue to behave recklessly and the numbers start to go up again then we’ll find ourselves where we are then at a place where we don’t want to be.”
