ComPol Comments on UDP Attorney Rape Allegation Case

While Police were able to detain three men for last night’s double murder, the investigation into the rape complaint, made 40 days ago, by two women on January 13, is yet to see any progress.  The rape allegation is against a well-known UDP attorney, but up to news time tonight, the Director of Public Prosecutions has still not instructed the Police on whether to charge the attorney.  Police Commissioner Chester Williams says the explanation for this is simple and easy to understand.

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “Well again the DPP is a very meticulous person. I must say that she is an extremely good attorney and an exceptional advocate and she basically is the type who wants to make sure when she draws bows that there is sufficient and so I know that she has me with the investigators and given them certain instructions to carry out and she is looking at the file very carefully. I know she was extremely occupied with the Oscar Selgado matter, that now awaits a decision from the trial judge so just give her some time. Like she said, I went personally through the file and it’s very complex, it’s not a straight forward case and so she needs to make sure that she has her ducks in a row before any decision is made where that matter is concerned.”

The allegation against the attorney is that he had taken the two women to his apartment, and raped one of them while they were intoxicated and unresponsive.
