Yesterday, the Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams, gave an update on the two murders that occurred over the past week. The first was 57-year-old Raymond Cherestral who was killed on the morning of April 2 in Ladyville, Belize District. The second was 27-year-old Ismael Jacobs, who was killed in Punta Gorda Town, Toledo District on April 3. Both persons were fatally shot. The ComPol stated that they are still trying to investigate both matters.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: ” Those two matters are still under investigation, that’s the Ladyville and Punta Gorda murders. We have two persons currently in custody for the one in Punta Gorda, we believe that those are the correct two persons but again the investigators are currently interviewing those two persons with a view to see how far they’re going to get with the investigation. The one in Ladyville is more challenging but we’re not going to give up we’re going to see how far we can reach with it.”
The ComPol stated that they have no motives in the murders.
