The participation of the Police officers in Thursday’s drug plane landing has brought yet another black eye to the department. One particular senior officer who has been brought into the spotlight is the former Commander of Operations, ACP Marco Vidal. Nah is the nephew of Vidal and the other officers have been known to work under the Vidal’s directorship. These men were members of Vidal’s Elite Strike Team. Love News understands that a major reshuffle has occurred and the other members of the strike team have been transferred.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “I can also say that the team that worked with Mr.Vidal at operations office those who were not arrested as a part of this plane landing they have all been transferred to the regular police body. Again, while we still continue to do our investigation because as we do certain things it might uncover the involvement of other persons so long as there is evidence later on to suggest that any other person be it police officers or not and regardless of rank or whatever is involved we will follow the evidence and do what needs to be done. And so I want to make that abundantly clear that from my perspective as the commissioner I will do whatever needs to be done to ensure that all those who are responsible for this plane landing are held accountable.”
The question on many minds is whether ACP Marco Vidal will be pinched in this latest drug bust. Reports were circulating over the weekend that Vidal had been placed on administrative leave, but it turns out, that was fake news.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “There are certain changes that we are making in the senior command and I can tell you off the bat that Mr.Vidal handed over the office of Commander of Operations today to ACP Alford Grinage. Mr.Vidal moves over to another area but may I also make it clear that at this time there is no indication to suggest that he is involved but just o as to make the investigation seem as fair as possible without any sort of interference we believe it is the right thing to do and whatever other changes that is being made in the senior command will be announced tomorrow.”
Reporter: So he is not on administrative leave ?
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “No.”
Reporter: If at first there may not have been any clear nexus or information that would suggest that knew or did not know would the developments of a pattern over the weekend perhaps that has changed your perspective ?
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “I just said a while ago that at this time there is no evidence to suggest that he is involved or may know but it is still a matter being investigated. We’re not going to rule it out per se but it must be looked at to make sure but so far we have not come across nothing to suggest so.”
