The death of Imarie Galvez, like any tragedy that occurs, has brought about a lot of what-ifs. While she was alive, many may have kept quiet despite observing red flags or the proverbial troubled waters. Since her passing, reports have surfaced saying that the victim may have been involved in an abusive relationship. Police Commissioner Williams advises the public that speaking up can save lives.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “Yes there are a number of rumors that are going around that he was in an abusive relationship with this particular individual. Wether or not that is true is still a matter to be confirmed. But again we want to appeal to parents who are aware of their young daughters being involved in abusive relationships with men to please seek assistance for them and get the intervention of the police or Women’s Department to see what we can do to assist these young women to get out of these types of relationships because at the end of the day sometimes the end result is not what either families would want and so it is something that as a people we need to look at to ensure that we protect our young women from abusive men.”
