A small ceremony was held today where seven Belizeans were presented with honors for their service to country as the most recent recipients of the New Year’s recognition by the Queen. Among those Belizeans are the former Director of Health Services, Dr Marvin Manzanero and the Police Commissioner, Chester Williams. Dr Manzanero was recognized as an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire for his contribution to Public Health and Public Service – so he becomes an OBE while Commissioner Williams was recognized for his contribution to Public Security and Public Service. Love News spoke to the commissioner after the ceremony and found that he is making plans to exit as the Police Commissioner.
An O.B.E was also be given to former CEO in the Ministry of Human Development Judith Alpuche for her contribution to Social Work and Public Service. The M.B.E. or Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire was awarded to former Foreign Affairs CEO, Lou-Anne Burns Martinez for her contribution to Foreign Service and Public Services. Other MBE awardees included Elisa Montalvo for her contributions Public Service and the Field of Law; Brigadier General Steven Ortega for his contribution to Public Security and Public Service; and Yolanda Smith for her contribution to Entrepreneurship and Community Service.
