Meanwhile, the Police Department is continuing its nationwide push to get officers vaccinated. Police Commissioner Chester Williams provided an update on the drive-in Dangriga this morning.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “More than 50% of the officers in the Stann Creek police formation have taken the vaccine. Our numbers of vaccinated officers is going up. The tour that the minister and I are doing we’re encouraging our officers to take the vaccines. What we do on our tour is that we get the Ministry of Health to send a doctor to explain to the officers the need to take the vaccine, the effect of the vaccine and why they should take it. And the message of the doctors is resonating with the officers because for the most part some of them were just unsure as to why they should take it because they have questions that they needed to be answered. So the doctors availed themselves to the officers to ask questions and they answered the questions that the officers asked and if the officers are satisfied with the answer then they decide that they take the vaccine so we’re seeing our numbers going up.”
