Construction Worker Survives Shooting on Central American Boulevard

A Belize City construction worker is hospitalized after surviving an attempt on his life. At around one thirty this afternoon, 24-year-old Kareem Kelly was sitting on a bucket at the corner of Central American Boulevard and Banak Street when two-gun men opened fire on him. The men then made their escape. Kelly was hit to his lower body and taken to the hospital where he remains in a stable condition. A witness told Love News that Kelly is not a troublesome person.

Witness: “I passed in a vehicle and when I passed I saw the two young men approach the young mana nd when they approached the young man we just heard “Bap bap bap bap bap” and we drove off. And we watched all of that because we came on this way and we stopped and hailed and we watched right there they were sitting own. And my friend made us drive off because he’s not into any problem. When they came they approached him and they went through something, he must have told the guy “Say what you’re saying now.” and they just hauled out their thing and lit up. Well all I know is he used to hang with my friends out here. I don’t really know him like that and when they say he’s not a trouble man I don’t know because I don’t know their background because out here they are out here doing all kinds of I don’t know what they’re doing.”

Police were able to retrieve footage of the shooting.  The video shows two dark-skinned men arriving in the area on a motorcycle.  The passenger hopped of the bike and fired at least four gunshots.
