Convicted Murderer Gets Sentence Reduced From Life to 30 Years

Today the Court of Appeal delivered its judgment on 29-year-old, convicted murderer Gregory August. His sentence of life imprisonment was reduced to thirty years. August’s attorney, Eamon Courtenay submitted that the sentence was unconstitutional convincing the Appeal Justices to reduce the sentence. August was convicted of the murder of 73-year-old, Alvin Robinson. Robinson was stabbed 9 times in his face and neck on November 21, 2012, at his home at mile 8 on the George Price Highway. August had appealed his murder conviction but it was dismissed by Belize Supreme Court. The respondent was represented by the DPP, Cheryl Lyn Vidal.
