Lincoln Bejerano, who was convicted of the 2016 murder of taxi driver Isidro Suar, has been sentenced to life in prison. Bejerano was sentenced in the Belmopan High Court today by Justice Antoinette Moore. Bejerano, who spent more than six years on remand at the Belize Central Prison, will not be eligible for parole until he has served 25 years. The case was prosecuted by assistant Director of Public Prosecutions Javier Chan. Isidro Suar was found dead in the Piccini area of Belmopan on January 8, 2016. Bejerano’s sentence brings an end to the saga which ran for just over nine years. The trial experienced a major delay after he had escaped police custody back in October 2016 and fled to Guatemala. His fate would land him back in Belize some three years later when he ran into trouble with the law in Guatemala. He was then handed over to authorities in Belize in 2019. Bejerano was no stranger to the law, as our records show that he has been charged with various offences including robbery, burglary, escaping police detention and even murder.
