Cop accused of unlawful sexual relationship with a minor gets bail

Police protecting their own was on full display at the court once again today, when officers shielded Police Constable Herman Millian from the media. It didn’t matter that Millian was charged for having unlawful sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old child.  Millian was on remand but had his attorney, Hurl Hamilton, apply for bail on his behalf which was granted to him before Justice Herbert Lord in the Supreme Court earlier today.  The conditions of the bail include that the defendant must report to the San Ignacio Police Station Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 6am and 7pm; he is not to interfere with the virtual complainant; he is also to surrender his passport to the Clerk of Court in San Ignacio and he cannot leave the jurisdiction without the permission of a judge. Over the weekend, the 13-year-old female in the company of a social worker and her parents visited the San Ignacio Police Station and reported that she was in a sexual relationship with a police officer attached to the San Ignacio Police Formation. Police launched an investigation into the child’s allegation and a medical examination conducted on the child certified by a doctor confirmed that the minor was carnally known.  Millian is to return to court on October 16.
