A police officer from the Orange Walk District gave birth at home last night with the assistance of a group of her colleagues. That’s because the cop had requested ambulance service from the Northern Regional Hospital but the ambulance never arrived. The officer then called for assistance from the police who assisted her in giving birth and transporting her to the hospital. The incident led the officer to question whether the hospital erred in its decision. Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams, stated that while he did not have all the information surrounding the incident it showed the resourcefulness of police officers.
The Ministry of Health and Wellness’s Director of Hospital Services, Dr. Jorge Polanco, also commented on the situation and says he will be visiting the NRH tomorrow to further investigate the circumstances of the complaint.
