COP21 Outcomes Discussed in Regional Meeting in Belize

A two day regional meeting concluded today in Belize where CARICOM Ministers responsible for climate change discussed, reviewed and analyzed the outcomes of the 21st Conference of the Parties that produced the Paris Agreement. In the Paris Agreement, countries such as Belize agreed to limit global warming to as far as two degrees Celsius in order to adapt to the adverse impacts of climate change. Belize’s Minister of State with responsibility for Environment and Sustainable Development Omar Figueroa explained how Belize, as a small developing country, would adapt to the adverse effects.

The Paris Agreement will enter into force when at least fifty five countries become parties to the agreement.
