The Corozal Free Zone will be getting connected to Belize Water Service’s water supply. It’s not common knowledge, but the area has been operating without that supply for 25 years, relying only on wells. The Free Zone’s Chief Executive Officer, Neri Ramirez told Love News that efforts to get the CFZ connected are underway.
Neri Ramirez, CEO, Corozal Free Zone: “For the past 25 years the Corozal Free Zone does not have potable water from BWS. For the past 25 years. Last year we initiated to meet with BWS and with government and we are working on something at the moment and hopefully by this year if God permits we will see the work start on the Corozal Free Zone with potable water.”
Reporter: How do you think the Corazal free zone survived without potable water for ¼ of a century?
Neri Ramirez, CEO, Corozal Free Zone: “Well they have wells, they do have individual wells individual companies and properties have their own well but my concern is that it’s not a good quality of water, it’s not good for health issues so that is the reason why I put in a lot of interest, a lot of efforts and that’s why I’m lobbying BWS and the government of Belize first to have this in place and we have gotten pledged that it will be sometime this year.”
Electricity and internet services are being provided to the commercial area.
