Graffiti artists in Belize will be showcasing their talents using various forms of paint, brushes, artistic tools and colors at this year’s Corozal Graffiti Festival 2020. For those who might not know Chactemal, it was a Maya region that encompassed southern Quintana Roo, Mexico, and Corozal. According to Debra Wilkes, Coordinator of the Corozal House of Culture, the artist will be honoring our ancestors with their art pieces and will encourage cultural exchange within the participating artists. She noted that while graffiti is the main attraction other artists such as poets, singers and musicians will be given a chance to showcase their talents.
The festival will be held at the Miami Beach in Corozal Town. Wilkes noted that this is the second year that the festival is being hosted. The event is being held by the National Institute of Culture and History (NICH) through the Corozal House of Culture under the theme “Ancient Chactemal”.
