Corozal Resident Hospitalized After Shooting

A resident of the Corozal District is hospitalized after he was shot at his home on Saturday. Around 7:45p.m, 28-year-old Orlando Ivan Vasquez was at his residence in the Joseito Layout when he heard someone whistle. Vasquez went to make checks and while opening the front door, he was met with gunfire. Assistant Commissioner of Police Hilberto Romero says Vasquez was injured, but he managed to escape with his life.

ACP Hilberto Romero, Officer Commanding Eastern Division: “Orlando Vasquez reported that he was at home when he heard someone whistle. He came out to see who it was at which point a male person fired several shots toward him causing injuries to him. He is at the hospital receiving treatment and is in a stable condition. We are seeking one suspect.”

Reporter: Could this be a case of mistaken identity ?

ACP Hilberto Romero, Officer Commanding Eastern Division: “Yes he was at his mother’s house and when he heard the whistling he came out to check who it was.”

Vasquez remains in stable condition at the Northern Regional Hospital.
