Corozal Salesman Robbed of $36K at Gunpoint in Belize City

An employee of Vega’s Distributors was robbed of over $36,000 worth of cash and valuables while he was in Belize City last week. Thirty-one-year-old Roberto Rivero, a salesman from Corozal Town, reported to police that he was robbed at gunpoint on Thursday, June 19, while at the carwash located on the Farm Center compound on North Front Street. He explained that two, dark-skinned men pulled up to the car wash on a motorcycle. One of them pulled the gun on him and threatened to kill him, while the second assailant quickly stole a backpack belonging to the company. The stolen bag contained thirty-five thousand dollars in cash and cheques. The men also stole a tablet belonging to the company, as well as personal items such as a cellphone and jewelry from Rivero, before escaping on the motorcycle. Police are investigating.
