Couple Remanded to Belize Central Prison for Ammunition Found in Home

A couple of Camalote Village, Cayo District was shown no mercy when they appeared in the Belmopan’s Magistrate’s Court this morning.  The 25-year-old woman, who is the mother of an infant and a one-year-old, has been remanded to Belize Central Prison along with her self-employed husband.  Love News understands that Police conducted a search of their home over the weekend, and found a single round of ammunition in the house.  The couple was arrested and taken to court this morning.  No bail was given, and the couple is scheduled to return to court in October.  We spoke to the couple’s attorney, Richard “Dickie” Bradley, who explained that the incident highlights a much greater issue with Belize’s justice system.

Bradley further explained that Tillett attempted to plead guilty this morning in court but the presiding Justice did not accept his guilty plea after listening to his version of events.
