Tonight, the COVID-19 numbers see a slight increase as twenty-two new cases have been recorded over the past three days. Of those cases, seven were reported today in the Ministry of Health and Wellness’s report. The report’s lock-off time was one this afternoon and includes information over the past twenty-four hours. We join Claudette Dakers-Norales of the Ministry of Health for more.
Claudette Dakers-Norales, Ministry of Health and Wellness: “A total of 644 samples were tested. Out of this 7 samples have resulted positive for COVID-19. There are 10 new recoveries to report. Today we also report that three infected persons are hospitalized. We have one person in the intensive care unit and no new death to report. The cumulative report we are presenting is from March 2020 when we had our first case. The new total of active cases now stands at 104, these are those persons who have been confirmed and are within the time frame to transmit the virus. To date 117,050 samples have been tested nationally. Out of this 12,646 samples have resulted positive for COVID-19. There are 12,208 recoveries. There are 99 individuals newly under investigation. A total of 323 deaths have been reported.”
Of the new cases reported, three were recorded in the Stann Creek, two were recorded in the Cayo District, while there was just a case each in the Belize and Toledo District. The Orange Walk and Corozal Districts saw zero new cases.
