Yesterday, we reported that six more people lost their lives in the fight against COVID-19, bringing the death toll to four hundred and eighty-two. That comes with two hundred and seventy-one new cases that were tallied yesterday. Belize’s numbers of infections and deaths are raising concern for the rest of the Latin American and Caribbean region. According to the Pan American Health Organization, the region has seen the lowest numbers of new cases and deaths in more than year. Assistant Director, Doctor Jarbas Barbosa explained during this morning’s press briefing.
The last update from the Ministry of Health and Wellness says there are two thousand six hundred and seventy-nine active cases. There are also thirty-two hospitalisations including eleven in intensive care.
