COVID-19 cases continue to balloon at an alarming rate with this past weekend adding another one thousand one hundred and eighty-one new cases. Today’s report comes amid a steady uptick in cases we’ve been reporting on for more than a week. Unfortunately, there are two additional fatalities attributed to the coronavirus. Kathleen Azueta-Cho, HECOPAB’s technical adviser breaks down today’s statistics.
With today’s report, active cases have increased by almost two hundred and fifty percent compared to a week ago. Staggeringly, Belize recorded four thousand one hundred and forty-four new cases since the start of 2022. On a related front, the offices of the Departments of Border Management and Immigration Services, Refugees, and Nationality and Passports in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be closed tomorrow and Wednesday for sanitisation. Those offices, located on Mountain View Boulevard in Belmopan, will resume operations on Wednesday morning at eight o’clock.
