Within the past twenty-four hours, the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW) has recorded 17 new cases of COVID-19 and 42 new recoveries. Fortunately, no new deaths were reported, leaving the total number of deaths at 652. There are currently 113 cases under investigation with a total of 342 active cases. According to the Deputy Manager of the Central Health Region, Dr. Mellissa Diaz Musa a majority of new cases are due to the highly transmissible Omicron variant which remains the dominant strain in the country.
Currently, there are four persons hospitalized, with one in the intensive care unit.
