36-year-old Gilbert Alamilla, better known as Mr Program, was laid to rest today. The musician was brutally murdered earlier this month whilst inside a residence on Simon Lamb Street in Belize City. Alamilla’s funeral was attended by many who broke several Covid-19 regulations. Commissioner of Police Chester Williams stated that while vehicles were allowed for a funeral procession through the streets, only ten persons should have been at the burial site. Videos on Facebook reveal that this measure was not adhered to, though. Williams stated that persons are at risk of being arrested for not abiding by the laws in place.

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “Well if that is so then I’m going to be extremely pissed. I spoke to Mr.Rosado earlier, he had called  and he said to me that there was this funeral for Mr.Program and a number of vehicles in a procession going to the cemetery. I said to him if it is a procession everybody in vehicles fine but once they reach the cemetery no more than ten persons must get out of those vehicles to be where the body will be laid to rest and I also said to him if it is that they exceed the number of persons at the burial site then those persons must be arrested. So I will be watching the news tonight and if it is there was a violation then we have to address it because we cannot continue to operate like this. People must understand that we have protocols in place to protect the society and what is so hard for us as rational human beings to just understand and abide by the rules ?”

Reporter: Would you really arrest dozens of people attending that funeral ?

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “If they are wrong they are wrong.”

Two persons have been arrested for the murder of Alamilla.
