Renowned Cuban artist, Carlos Rafael Gonzalez Barban is back in Belize. He was invited by the National Institute of Culture and History (NICH) to judge various Carnival events, but decided that he wanted to do much more while in the country. He currently has an exhibit open at the Image Factory, and yesterday, he began painting a mural at the mouth of the notorious Pinks Alley in Belize City, on the wall of the Chon Sing Restaurant. Today, we caught up with the artist in the middle of his creative storm, and he told us his inspiration for the mural.
Barban’s exhibit at the Image Factory is open to the public, and is free of cost.
