It has been two weeks since the Police launched an investigation into the incident where a customs officer shot Dwayne Almendarez during an altercation between civilians and Customs Officials in Yo Creek Village, Orange Walk District. Today police report that they have charged the Customs Officer now officially identified as 39 year old Rudolph Williams. Williams has been charged for Manslaughter and was arraigned today at the Orange Walk Magistrates Court where he was offered bail of five thousand dollars. The matter has been adjourned to September 21. Almendarez was shot on August 15 during an altercation where he was accused of making threatening advances towards customs officials. Police report that the officers fired warning shots but Almendarez was not deterred and continued his advances and he was subsequently shot. He succumbed to his injuries on August 19.
