And while the Union is preparing for elections on Saturday, two stevedores claim that their grievance hearings with the union are not being addressed. A release being circulated says since April of last year the union has constantly been undermining the process by not recognizing their rights. They claim their grievances have been treated in a nonchalant way by both the union and their employer. Their grievance stems from a number of issues including what they claim were illegal deductions from their salaries. The civil suit is set for April 9. The duo is asking that the annual general meeting and elections be delayed so that their hearings can take place. It is their concern that if tomorrow’s agenda goes through and a new executive is elected and a new constitution put in place, they will have to go through the entire process once again.
