CZMAI Works on Marine Spatial Plan, Conducts Ocean Accounting Workshop

The Coastal Zone Management Authority and Institute (CZMAI) is working on a marine spatial plan that will guide policy decisions for the sustainable use of Belize’s marine resources. As part of the process, CZMAI is holding a three-day workshop on ocean accounting, aimed at training stakeholders on their respective roles to assist in the plan’s development. Love News spoke with the facilitators of the workshop, to find out what the 21 participants will be learning and how it will benefit Belize.

Samir Rosado Marine Spatial Planning Process Lead, CZMAI, also spoke to Love News on what participants should be able to do after the training concludes on Thursday.

The marine special plan is due by 2026 as part of the deliverables for the Blue Bond negotiations.
