The ComPol also commented on the case of 21-year-old Damion Saldana, who is wanted by police for questioning concerning a murder. Saldana had been detained by police earlier in the week but was released after spending two days in police custody. According to Williams, investigators were forced by law to release the Belize City resident due to not having sufficient evidence but now have a solid case against him.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “When we had him we had not yet obtained the evidence we have now. His forty eight hours was up and we could not have kept him no longer in custody. We now have evidence that can be used to charge him for the crime and now we’re in search of him and we cannot find him but we have put out the wanted posters and we’re hoping that the public is going to help us to locate him.”
