Dangriga Elects Educator Howard Melendrez as New Deputy Mayor

Dangriga Town has a new Deputy Mayor, 52-year-old career educator Howard Melendrez. The Dangriga Town Council held elections yesterday, and Melendrez was unanimously elected from among the councilors. Melendrez, who is no stranger to municipal government, has the responsibility of being the point of contact between the council and the Belize Police Department. Mayor Robert Mariano says that the unanimous vote is a testament to the confidence that the councilors have in Melendrez’s capabilities.

Melendrez will serve as Deputy Mayor for one year.
