Dangriga Family Seeks Help After Fire Destroys Home and Belongings

A Dangriga family of five is seeking the public’s assistance in getting back on their feet, after losing everything in a fire over the weekend. Around four-thirty on Saturday afternoon, a fire broke out at the house on Isidora Street in the New Site area.  Firefighters managed to save the structure, but the family lost everything in the blaze. The homeowner, Santos Elijio, told Love News that he and his wife are currently sleeping on the floor in what remains of their home, while their children are staying at a relative’s house. Elijio says he has taken a loss of around fifty thousand dollars.

The National Fire Service has yet to issue its official report on the fire. However, Love News understands that it is suspected to have been caused by an exposed electrical wire in one of the bedrooms that set fire to a mattress. Elijio is asking for the public’s assistance to help his family get back on their feet. He can be reached at 600-9237
