Dangriga Farmer’s Battle Against Erosion: Dredging Threatens Crops

Dangriga Farmer, Kent McKenzie, reported that he has been experiencing erosion in his farm due to dredging taking place next to his farm.  McKenzie’s farm is in the Carib Reserve area in Dangriga.  He says across the North Stann Creek River a neighbor has been dredging sand from the river for several years.  The activity has caused his crops to fall into the river, damaging 2 acres of his farm. He says he has been contacting the Department of Environment for assistance, but his efforts have been futile.
