Dangriga Health Fair Focuses on Mental Health Awareness

The Department of Youth Services collaborated with several community organizations to organize a health fair in Dangriga, with a specific focus on mental health. The health fair was held on Sunday, September 16, with support from Carlos Promotions and Keeping Each Youth Safe through Services (KEYS). Carlos Augustine, one of the organizers of the event, explained that one of the main purposes of the health and wellness fair was to try and normalize talking about and seeking help for mental health issues. 

Mel Benguche, Director of KEYS, said that her organization was at the mental health and wellness fair, leading a mental health campaign catering to young girls and young women. Benguche said that the campaign focuses on the connection between a female’s menstrual cycle and their mental health. She also spoke on the work of KEYS.
