Dangriga Police Officer Charged with Aggravated Assault, Controversy Surrounds Case
Police Constable Tyrell Rowley of the Dangriga formation is being charged for aggravated assault with a firearm. The charge stems from a face-off within the Dangriga Police Station on Saturday, May 27 where it is alleged that Rowley pulled a firearm at Police Constable Javon Logan. According to the Police report, it was Rowley who was the aggressor, but an account from an officer inside the station at the time of the incident, is saying otherwise. The situation has brought anger within the Dangriga formation as many believe that Rowley is being wrongfully charged. Love News understands that Logan was directed by one of the relief commanders to hand over his firearm to Rowley; Logan refused and an exchange of words ensued. The situation escalated, and according to the witness statement sent to our newsroom, Rowley had left the room to cool off, but Logan reportedly followed him and pulled a gun on him. At the end of the day, however, Rowley has been charged, and the morale at the Dangriga formation is low, calling the outcome as being unfair.
