Dangriga Resident Survives Attempt on His Life in Home Invasion

A resident of Dangriga survived an attempt on his life last night. According to police, 55-year-old Adolphus Harris was shot inside the comfort of his home after opening the door to a gunman. Harris and his wife were lying down in bed around 8:30 p.m. at their Melinda Road residence when someone shouted for Harrison. The father of two went to check who it was but was met with the barrel of a gun. Harrison was shot in the chest and hand and rushed to the Southern Regional Hospital. His wife, Mildred Garcia, spoke to Stann Creek Correspondent Harry Arzu about the incident. 

Mildred Garcia Harris, Wife: “A person hollered his name and he opened the door and suddenly it happened so fast. The person hollered his name and he opened the door but he didn’t see who, it just happened fast and he got shot and he cried. They didn’t knock they just hollered his name.”

Harry Arzu, Stann Creek Correspondent: You think it’s somebody he knows ? 

Mildred Garcia Harris, Wife: “I don’t know.”

Harry Arzu, Stann Creek Correspondent: What kind of work did he do ? 

Mildred Garcia Harris, Wife: “He did construction, sometimes people would call him to do a little work for them and he had just come from doing a surgery for a hernia the other day.”

Harry Arzu, Stann Creek Correspondent: Where is he right now ? 

Mildred Garcia Harris, Wife: He’s at the hospital. He just called me.”

Harry Arzu, Stann Creek Correspondent: How is he doing ? 

Mildred Garcia Harris, Wife: “He’s doing good.”

Harrison remains in stable condition at the Southern Regional Hospital.
