We now transition into crime related news beginning with the disappearance of four fishermen, Eighteen days has passed and the four men from Dangriga Town, Stann Creek District remain missing. 42-year-old Omar Thompson was accompanied by 29-year-old Brenton Brackett, 19-year-old Leon Diaz, and 25-year-old Jeffrey Gomez when they reportedly went missing at sea. The men were last seen or heard from while on their fishing trip to Long Caye on December 11. Search is still underway by the Belize Coast Guard and the Belize Police Department but the men nor their vessel has not been sighted as yet as explained by Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Joseph Myvette.
ACP Joseph Myvette, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch: “Searches were conducted extensively by police and Coast Guard officers in that area but so far those persons haven’t been found and neither have any communication been made with their families by those persons.”

ACP Joseph Myvette, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch: “No it hasn’t. The search is still ongoing however at a more reduced if you want to call it that at this point in time but yes it’s still ongoing.”
Long Caye is an island fifteen miles or thirteen nautical miles from Dangriga Town.
